Citroen – Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable

This Type 1 to Type 2 charging cable will charge a Type 1 socket Citroen at a Type 2 socket public charging point or wall charger. The cable will safely charge your vehicle up to its maximum AC charging capacity. Available in lengths of 5M and 10M. Please note that the only non-import Citroen vehicle sold in Europe that has a Type 1 socket is the Citroen Berlingo model manufactured up to 2019. A canvas cable bag is supplied with your cable and there is the option to upgrade to a case that will store more than one EV cable. Please read all of the information below.

Our cables are normally returned for one of the reasons below. Reading this information may help you to avoid having to send your order back to us. Please also read the Cable Description further down the page as it contains important information about this Type 1 to Type 2 charging cable.

Is your vehicle already supplied with a Type 1 charging cable? Please ask your dealer / seller if they have included an EV cable with your vehicle.
Is your cable long enough? Measure the length from your wall charger to where your vehicle will usually be parked (and take into account where the Type 1 vehicle socket is located) and add half a metre to avoid overstretch. If you are using the charging cable with a public charging point, the 5 metre cable is recommended as the 3 metre length can sometimes be too short.
Is this an extension cable? No. It cannot be used to daisy chain / convert a tethered cable or home / mains charger. So, the cable cannot connect to a Type 2 female (vehicle) plug. It can only be used to plug directly in to the socket of a Type 2 charging point.
Is this the correct type of charging cable for my vehicle? If you know that your vehicle has a Type 1 socket, then this cable is compatible with your vehicle. If you are unsure, check the list of Type 1 socket electric vehicles below or use our EV Cable Finder.
Is this a rapid charging cable? This is not a CHAdeMO cable. If you want a cable to use with a DC rapid charger, you do not need to buy one as the cable is always attached to the unit.

Cable Care & Safety

Our Type 1 to Type 2 cables have a 24 months manufacturer warranty, but they will give you trouble free use if you follow the safety instructions in the user booklet that you will receive with your charging cable. Charge A Type 1 Socket Citroen EV With A Home Wall Box Or Public Charging Point

If your Citroen EV has a Type 1 socket, then the Type 1 to Type 2 charging cable will provide the vehicle with the maximum current that it can accept. You can connect the cable to any Type 2 socket charging point such as a wall charger or a public charging point. Commonly known as the Type 1 to Type 2 cable.

It does not matter if the Type 2 socket charging point is 3 Phase or 1 Phase because the charging point will work out how much current your vehicle will accept and how much current the cable can handle. This Type 2 charging cable can therefore be used with ALL Type 2 charging points with an open socket.

This cable is not an extension cable. You will therefore not be able to use it to connect the Type 2 male plug to the Type 2 female plug of an EV cable or charger. It is therefore not suitable for charging points with a lead already attached. You can only insert the plug directly into the socket of a Type 2 charging point.

Choosing The Right Charging Cable

Is This Charging Cable Suitable For The Citroen EV?

The Citroen EV that has a Type 1 socket is the Citroen Berlingo manufactured up to 2019.

Our cables can be used with any AC (Alternating Current) charging point. This includes wall chargers and the free charging points that you will find at supermarkets and retail parks, for example.

Please note that Citroen did not manufacture this cable.

Vehicle Compatibility

Our 32A Type 1 to Type 2 cables conform to the IEC J1772 standard, which means that they are compatible with a Type 2 charging point and the Type 1 socket of the Citroen EV.

The cable is capable of carrying up to 7.4kW current. However, the cable will only provide up to the maximum charging capacity of the Citroen EV.

Some Type 1 socket vehicles will also have a CHAdeMO charging socket. You do not need to buy a cable to use this socket as all charging points that support CHAdeMO will already have a cable attached to it.

Choice Of Cable Bags

We provide a free canvas cable bag (suitable for cables up to 10M) to store this charger when not in use. You can also upgrade the bag to a cable case made from EVA material for enhanced waterproofing and impact protection. The EVA case has an elasticated strap in the bottom compartment and elasticated mesh pocket in the top. So it allows convenient storage of two cables. The EVA case can therefore carry 2 cables if each cable does not exceed 10 metres length (20M total length).
