Type 2 to 3 pin Charging Cable 10A For EV Charging With A 13A Socket
£144.00 – £162.00 vat included
Type 2 to 3 pin charger that will charge your EV at 10A. This charger will provide up to 2.3kW when using a 13A socket and is suitable for emergency charging your EV at home or anywhere there is a 3 pin UK socket. This charger has a Type A RCD. For using a 13A socket to regularly charge an EV, or if the 3 pin socket is not protected by a Type B RCD, we recommend our adjustable current 3 pin charger, which has an integrated sensor that provides DC current detection equivalent to a Type B RCD and an optional temperature sensor in the plug. Please note that the unit box of this fixed amp charger is IP65. This means that the unit box should be sheltered during heavy rain or snow. If you are placing the box outdoors – the length of the cable from the 3 pin plug to the box is approximately 60cm – we recommend the IP67 option that is available for the adjustable 3 pin charger. Please consult with your electrician to ensure that the socket used for charging your vehicle is suitable for EV charging. A canvas cable bag is supplied with your charger and there is the option to upgrade to a case that will store more than one EV cable. Please read the user booklet included with your cable before using it. Read below for important information about this charging cable.

10A 3-pin EV Charger For Plugging Into A 13A Home / Mains Socket. Charges A Type 2 EV
This Type 2 to 3 pin charger can charge an EV at 10A, which equates to around 2.3kW.
Plug this charger into a 13A socket and charge your EV at 10A. This charger is recommended as an emergency back-up. For example, if you are visiting an area without any charging facilities nearby.
If you are using a 13A socket to charge your EV regularly and for longer periods, we recommend our adjustable 3 pin EV charger.
Being able to reduce the charging current reduces the heat stress on a mains socket. This is important if a 13A socket lacks a dedicated circuit connection. Or where the circuit and socket haven’t been certified for EV charging by a qualified electrician. Variable charging will also allow the charger and/or the vehicle to reduce the current if overheating is detected.
The variable charger also has Type B protection built in, so you will not have to install a Type B RCD if your fuse board does not have one. Additionally, the variable charger features a timer, enabling charging to start from 1 to 10 hours after plugging in and an optional plug temperature sensor and IP67 weatherproof unit.
Is This 3 Pin Charger Suitable For My EV / PHEV?
Choosing The Right Charger
To use this 3-pin charger, your EV must have a Type 2 socket. Refer to the photo of a Type 2 socket on this page and match it to your EV.
If you are still not sure, click the button below to find your EV/PHEV. This will enable you to verify if your vehicle is equipped with a Type 2 socket. Additionally, please review the information at the top of this page under “Please Read Before You Buy”. This information will help you to avoid the most common reasons for returning a 3-pin charging cable.
Use A Suitable Socket
Charging an EV for long periods with a 13A socket may cause thermal damage to the socket. For example, the socket might overheat if the socket has damaged, if there is faulty wiring, or if the electrical circuit is overloaded. It is rare, but it does happen.
For this reason, we strongly recommend having an electrician inspect the intended socket to certify its suitability for EV charging. This assessment should include factors such as the duration (e.g., 4 hours charging at a time), and the frequency of EV charging (e.g., daily).
We understand that, at times, charging your EV with a socket certified by an electrician may not be feasible. In such instances, we recommend the variable amp charger as it provides additional protection for the 3-pin socket. It is also a good idea to ensure that both the plug and socket are not becoming excessively hot during charging.
Avoid using an extension lead or adapter with this Type 2 to 3 pin charger. Plug the charger directly into the socket. Ensure that water does not come into contact with the 3-pin plug or the Type 2 plug, and keep the charger dry when not in use. Before using this charger, be sure to read the user booklet included with the charger.
EV Cable Bag And Case
We provide a canvas cable bag (suitable for cables up to 10M) to store this charger when not in use. The bag can also be upgraded to a cable case made from EVA material, which has improved waterproof and impact protection. The EVA case has an elasticated strap in the bottom compartment and elasticated mesh pocket in the top to allow convenient storage of two cables. The EVA case can hold two cables, provided each cable is no longer than 10 meters (with a total combined length of 20 meters) and is neatly wound.
