Use A Spiral EV Cable To Connect Your Type 2 Socket Electric Vehicle To A Type 2 Socket Charging Point
Our 7kW Type 2 to Type 2 spiral charging cable will provide up to 7,4kW and can be plugged into the Type 2 socket of any charging point that does not already have a cable already attached to it. It does not matter if the charging point is 3 Phase or 1 Phase because the charging point will work out how much current your vehicle will accept and how much current the cable can handle. The cable can therefore be used with ALL Type 2 charging points with an open socket and ALL electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. This cable is not an extension cable and it will not work if it is connected to another Type 2 plug. It is therefore not suitable for charging points with a cable already attached to it (a tethered cable) or as an extension for any other charging cable The working length of a spiral cable is about 2 metres below their stated length.
Choosing The Right Charging Cable
Is My Vehicle Type 2?
The majority of electric vehicles that are sold in Europe have a Type 2 socket. The vehicle will either have a 7 hole charging socket or a 9 hole CCS socket. CCS stands for Combined Charging Socket and the Type 2 cable fits into the 7 hole upper chamber of the CCS socket. A CCS socket will allow an electric vehicle to be charged using a DC rapid charger. The CCS socket accepts Direct Current (DC) to charge the vehicle up to 150kW, which is much faster than a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable. Our cables can only be used with an AC (Alternating Current) charging point, which are wall chargers and the free ones that you will find at supermarkets and retail parks. However, a CCS charger requires a fee and the unit will always have a cable attached to it. The plug on a CCS cable fits into the entire chamber of the vehicle socket, all 9 holes! Use our EV Cable Finder to locate your EV / PHEV so you can see if 1. your vehicle has the Type 2 socket and 2. the Type 2 7kW spiral cable is the best one for your vehicle.
Is The 7kW Spiral Cable Suitable For My EV?
Vehicle Compatibility
Our Type 2 to Type 2 spiral cables conform to the IEC 62196-2 standard, which means that they are compatible with a Type 2 charging point and any Type 2 socket vehicle. If you do not have possession of your vehicle and you cannot check the vehicle socket, then please click the Type 2 EV List tab. Or, if you are not sure whether a 3 Phase 32A or 1 Phase 32A charging cable is more suitable for your vehicle, you can click the button below to locate your vehicle and discover more information about it’s charging capacity.
Choice Of Cable Bags
We provide a free canvas cable bag (suitable for cables up to 10M) to store this charger when not in use. You can also upgrade the bag to a cable case made from EVA material for enhanced waterproofing and impact protection. The EVA case has an elasticated strap in the bottom compartment and elasticated mesh pocket in the top. So it allows convenient storage of two cables. The EVA case can therefore carry 2 cables if each cable does not exceed 10 metres length (20M total length).
